We produce exclusively in Europe, so we can save on transport routes and thus CO² emissions. At the same time, we can work together here on the technical, ecological and aesthetic function of our products and benefit from the know-how of the Portuguese production plant. We do not rely solely on our certifications. In line with our philosophy, we personally and regularly convince ourselves of the quality and working conditions on site. After all, this is where the people who sew our KAYA&KATO aprons, chef jackets and tunic jackets work. CLEAN OCEAN
We work exclusively with partners who put people and the environment first in textile production. Highest social standards, transparency, fair trade, short delivery routes and sustainable use of resources: these are our production standards/conditions. This is checked and proven annually through their comprehensive certification. All products are sewn in Europe.
OUR FABRICS WITH RECYCLED POLYESTER To meet the extreme demands of industrial laundering, KAYA&KATO also produces products from polyester-cotton blends. To offer a more sustainable option than existing market solutions, the company has worked with a Spanish fabric manufacturer to develop organic cotton-polyester fabrics that use recycled plastic waste from the ocean for the polyester.
In every meter of fabric, 12.5 PET bottles of plastic waste are reused and recycled. This saves 21% CO² and 20% energy. The CO² saving from 1,000 meters of fabric is equivalent to the emissions from a car trip of around 11,000 km. What started small in Spain has now grown significantly, with initiatives in several European and non-European countries participating in the recycling of plastic waste from the sea and its tributaries. In 2021, KAYA&KATO will fill this initiative with more partners and initiatives.
