North Sea College is Denmark's most specialized educational institution for those who want a future at sea. Located close to the North Sea and the authentic maritime environment in Thyborøn, you will be educated where it all happens.

A modern maritime learning environment

The Fishing School, part of North Sea College, is known for its strong maritime profile, high professionalism and close contact with the industry. It educates both future commercial fishermen and students who aim for jobs in the blue industries – e.g. aquaculture, maritime service, offshore, CO2 capture, energy islands and food production.

The school works according to the "farm to fork" and "sea to fork" principles and combines practice, innovation and sustainability. This requires workwear that is developed to withstand wind, salt water, cold, rain and physical work.

Workwear for fishing & maritime education

The workwear for fishing students is selected according to the school's requirements and industry standards. Typically, student packs consist of:

• Waterproof rainwear (jacket & trousers) – 100% wind and waterproof
• Fishing overalls / oil trousers – for work on deck
• Thermal clothing & fleece – important for warmth in cold environments
• Reflective clothing – visibility in the dark and bad weather
• Water-repellent jackets – for work on land

Popular brands among fishing students are Elka, Helly Hansen Workwear, Portwest and Viking, all of which are developed for the maritime environment.

Boots & footwear for fishing

Footwear is important for both safety and comfort. Student packages typically contain:

• Waterproof rubber boots – non-slip and robust
• Safety boots S5 – for working with equipment and heavy loads
• Lightweight shoes S3 – for halls, workshops and teaching

On land and in workshops, Airtox and Elten are often recommended for maximum support and safety.

Safety equipment for maritime education

In addition to clothing, supplementary safety equipment is often used – both in exercises and during practice periods:

• Life jacket (requirement during many exercises)
• Gloves – waterproof and cut-resistant
• Helmet – when working with lifting and equipment
• Reflective equipment – visibility in port and on board

All workwear in the student packages is selected to ensure safety, functionality and correct clothing in accordance with the school's regulations.
